As they walk into the bar, Lexi looks to her left and spot open seats at around the end towards the pool area. “Over there, there’s enough seats for us,” Lexi says eager to get there before anyone else. She’s been wanting to go out he and Sean have been broken up so she deserves to have some type of fun, right?

“Do you see him, T?” Shannon asks while rolling her tongue as if to tease Terri into saying something. “Girl, please. You go too far. I would never,” Terri responds. “We just agreed that you need someone to flush your cat out, you have dust building up down there!” Terri waves in disgust at Shannon’s request for her to put herself out there. Besides, it’s been so long, she’s not sure what to do. “Pass me a straw please,” Lexi says with attitude. “Y’all down there whispering, who are y’all looking at?” she asks loudly. “Do you always have to be that loud? Damn!” Shannon says while rolling her eyes and turning her chair in embarrassment. “Hello!” Lexi yells at them with her hand on her hip. Shannon looks at her with that are you serious face.

As Terri proceeds to order her drink, the guy they were whispering about walks over to the bar with his friend and wait to order, too. “What can I get for you?” the lady asks Terri. “A long island, please,” Terri says pleasantly. She can’t deny the sensation from wanting a drink too. “Sure. ID, please,” the bartender says. Terri reaches for her clutch to get her ID and looks back up to hand it over to the bartender when she notices Lexi mouthing something to her. “What?” Terri asks aloud. Lexi mouths it again but Terri did not understand and asked, “What are you saying?” making her eyes buck. “I said, get that!” Lexi yells causing the man to turn his attention to Terri. Terri gazes in shock. Did she just do this? She wonders to herself. “What are you ladies drinking this evening?” the man asks Terri. Shannon and Lexi strategically hurry up and put their drinks to their mouths so Terri has not choice but to answer him. Terri gives them a death look, turns back to the man, and says, “long islands.” He smiles and nods out of respect for such a grown taste in alcohol. “Can I get you another one, without any strings attached, of course?” Terri smiles and says, “Sure.” “I’m Kevin by the way,” he says putting his hand out for Terri to shake it. “I’m Terri,” she says and shakes his hand with a slight smile. As he waves to get the bartender’s attention, Terri sees Lexi fake twerking out of excitement. “Yassss friend, get that dick!” she yells. “Terri shakes her head before completely turning away from them. As the bartender returns with the next round of drinks for Terri and her friends, Kevin’s friend walks up. He and Kevin begin to talk and it becomes visible that Kevin is gesturing towards Terri. But before Terri could look away, Kevin was in the process of getting her attention to introduce her to Jason. “Terri, this is my potna, Jason. Jason, this is Terri.” Jason smiles and reaches his hand to shake Terri’s. Terri smiles and bids him a polite greeting.

Shannon whispers to Terri, “do him, T.” Lexi agrees with Shannon and is giving Terri that get it girl look. Terri rolls her eyes and a smile breaks between her causing her to wear the suit of happiness. Has she met someone she’s actually interested in after all this time? She and Sean ended things over a year ago but she has been antisocial ever since. As much as she wanted to put herself out there, she’s always doubted the potential attractive and astute single men New Orleans seemed to lack. Terri finishes the last sip of her first long island and moves her second glass closer.  She sips slower on this one seeing as though she already had a buzz. While she gets acquainted with Kevin, Shannon and Lexi were fashion watching. “No she does not have on bell bottoms with boots and it’s hot as hell outside!” Lexi exclaims to Shannon while bursting into laughter.

As the night rolls on, the restroom breaks increased and their steps became slower. Once they reach the threshold of the restroom for the third time, Lexi falls and split her dress. Lexi and Terri use the bit of sober strength to get her off the floor. They make her take her heels off before they all use the restroom and return to the bar to bid Kevin and his friend good night. “We’re going to head out, Lexi is passed her intoxication level,” Terri tells Kevin, laughing a little. “Let me walk you to the car,” Kevin says. “We’re fine. You don’t have to do that,” Terri says with confidence. Nevertheless, Kevin insists, “I wouldn’t be a man if I let three beautiful women walk along to their car at this time of the night.” Terri gives in which rarely happens and notices how turned on she is. Maybe she will check one night stand off on her bucket list tonight. The thought made her smile and feel more sexy.

“Would you like to exchange numbers?” Kevin asks Terri in a gentle tone. Terri becomes turned on and agrees that she’s fine with that. “Forget her number, take a woman to Waffle House,” Lexi yells and then falls flat out in the backseat of Terri’s car. Terri is always the responsible one who volunteers to drive because she can sober up in seconds. “We can do that,” Kevin tells Lexi as he bends down to look at Lexi, seeing she’s out. “I don’t mind taking you all,” Kevin tells Terri to see what she says. She notices that Shannon and Jason are vibing so her answer becomes easily as the minutes passes by. They end up going to the Waffle House; Kevin and Jason follow Terri to ensure their safety. Once they get there, Kevin takes over and shows his ability to be a man. It was as if he didn’t have a drip of alcohol in his system. They all ate and enjoyed each other’s conversation, including Lexi running to the restroom to throw up. Jason offers to take Lexi home because Terri would not be able to pick Lexi up and carry her into her apartment. Shannon agrees and the three of them left together. Terri threatens to call the police if Shannon didn’t answer her phone every time she calls to check on them.

“You would want to answer or you’ll be seeing me and blue lights,” Terri tells Shannon before they drive off. Kevin and Terri turn to walk the opposite way towards Terri’s car. Once they get there, Terri looks down at the ground in deep thought and Kevin thanks for her company at this time in the morning. Terri looks up and smiles at him Kevin smiles back and says, “Well, I’m going to let you get inside.” “Okay, good night,” Terri says and they both go in for a hug. Terri holds a bit tighter than what she thought she would, being enticed by his cologne and masculine touch. He is so fine but I’m not sure if I… and before she could finish her thought, her lips were on his, making her hot between her thighs. She wants more of him and tells him that through moving her hands up to his neck, holding his head, making sure to keep his lips pressed to hers. Seven months back in the French Quarters--

Lexi, Terri, and Shannon were out for the French Quarter Fest. “Why are you tripping when it’s clear he downgraded?” Lexi yells at Terri, waving her hand in the air to emphasize her point causing her to spill some of her Daiquiri. Terri turns away and begins to walk toward the bench near the water. She’s aggravated and the fact that she, Lexi, and Shannon are tipsy does not help. Lexi gets even louder when consuming alcoholic beverages and Shannon gets belligerent. They have been out here all day, enjoying the food and drinks along with the entertainment until Terri saw Sean with another woman. At this point in time, Terri is hoping they’ll say they want to leave so she can avoid running into them again.

“You know what would really help you get over him? You need to get laid, asap, T!” Shannon suggests with the usual pointing of her finger and neck rolling. Shannon is known to have a rigid attitude with men but knows when to let her guard down. She’s single by choice and because of her faith in that “women don’t need a man in order to be happy.”After a few minutes pass with Lexi and Shannon making small talk, Terri pulls her phone out and responds to a guy she’s been casually direct messaging on Instagram. “I’m at the Fest if you want to meet up,” Terri types then presses the green check to send the message. While they find another booth to get another drink, Terri notices she has a notification--it’s him. “I came out here a little over an hour ago..I’m with my potnas. Where u at?” he responds. Terri lights up in a bit inside, feeling slightly relieved that she has someone to fall back on to make her feel better about her social life.

“I thought you were going to catfish me,” Troy, the guy Terri was messaging says. Terri laughs and replies, “Why would you think that?” “Because he’s probably used to those inflatable booties,” Lexi says laughing loudly at her joke. Terri looks at her with a disgusted face letting her know she should stop talking. Lexi catches on and asks Shannon to walk with her to get a snowball. As the line for the snowballs moves, Shannon notices Terri and the guy getting touchy and nudges Lexi so she can see. “Couldn’t be me,” Lexi tell Shannon sticking her tongue out with a smirky-smile. “Girl, whatever,” Shannon says dragging the her words, shifting her weight to her right hip. After two more customers, Lexi and Shannon are finally at the front of the booth. Before Shannon completes her order she asks Lexi if they should get Terri one. “Idk if she’s going to want it right now, but text her and ask,” Lexi tells Shannon. “No thank you. I’m about to leave with Troy,” Shannon reads aloud to Lexi in awe. They’re both in shock and visually block out the cashier trying to get their attention so they can complete their order. “That’s it,” Shannon tells the cashier without making eye contact with him, gazing at the phone thinking of the best response. They move to the side to wait for their snowballs while they grunt, expressing their reactions.

Terri sees that they’re talking closely and as she looks down at her phone to see if Shannon has responded, she notices the ellipses is hovering at the bottom of the screen. She now knows that they’re both talking about her and that these dots probably indicate they’re not 100% in agreement with her decision. “Do you but BE SAFE!” Shannon responds. As Terri sees the message pop up, she glows in shock and is secretly covered in excitement that she has supportive friends. She tells Troy that she’s going to go tell them she’s leaving and begins to walk their way. As she approaches the booth, one of the workers hand Lexi and Shannon their snowballs. They grab them in and mhm in gratitude for this delicious treat in this Spring weather. “We know,”Shannon says to Terri as she they congregate around the side of the booth. Terri laughs and Lexi raps, “No judge, zone!” while twerking. “We’re going to call you every twenty minutes so tell him his orgasms have to come in intervals,” Lexi tells Terri. “I’m not about to have sex with him!” Terri yells at Lexi in shock at her assumption. “Well, why you going then?” Shannon asks waiting for Terri to respond with a contradiction. After a few moments of silence, Lexi and Shannon laugh and dap each other off in accomplishment.

Once Terri and Troy make it to Terri’s car, he asks if she’s hungry. “I’m fine,” Terri says smiling. She loves men who are edgy with a soft side. “Well I’m all yours for the evening, it’s whatever you wanna do, baby,” Troy says with sincerity. “We can go back to your place then,” Troy says waiting for Terri’s response.” “Cool,” Terri says getting in her car. “I’ll follow you,” she says as she closes her door.

Three hours later….

As Terri moans in Troy’s ear, he becomes aroused as she grabs at his pants. He quickly catches on and volunteers to removes his pants.
